The cheque was inserted the wrong way
Feed direction and face orientation are part of the profile.
Printers differ in whether they print on the face-up or face-down side of a manually fed sheet, and whether the leading edge is the short or long edge.
Your printer profile stores both. Run one calibration sheet, note which way the text came out, and set the profile to match — then always load leaves the same way.
